Union Industry

In May 2008, FCAI and the Painter's District Council #30 (DC 30) negotiated a contract governing wages, working conditions and fringe benefits. The four-year agreement pertains to FCAI Members in DC 30's jurisdiction.

STARs a special program the Union offers FREE to Members in good standing
STAR stands for Safety Training Awards Recognition, a program sponsored by DC 30 and LMIDF. It's an incentive program that rewards members who take advantage of continuing education in health and safety subjects and maintain an outstanding safety record.
Participants have chances to win items such as cell phones, TVs, stero equipment, gift certificates and even a new pick-up truck!

First Aid
Respiratory Fit Training

Apprentice School

DC 30's JATF Apprentice School's goal is to develop a high quality workforce that, with the help of journeyman sponsors, will eventually be able to master the tools and crafts of this industry. On October 23, 2008, 116 Apprentices graduated from the JATF. Several awards were presented to distinguished graduates: Perfect Attendance: Dustin Dial & Joel Sanchez; the Norm Hankes Award: Alex Vandegraft; Secretary/Treasurer Award: Sandra Sigala; and, named Apprentice of the Year: Brant Anderson. Gifts were donated by DC #30 and Purdy. Tool bags were provided by NiPDi/FCAI. Those attending the Graduation & Awards Ceremony included: Gary Von Behren, JATF Coordinator; Charles Anderson, Secretary/Treasurer, DC #30; Rick Vandegraft, JATF Chairman; Aaron Anderson, Director of Employer Recruitment & Retention, JATF & DC #30; Michael Ehrat, Business Representative; John Penny, Organizer, and JATF Management Trustees; Justin Avey, Michael LeGood and Bill Nielsen. Guests for the evening included, Dan Penske, Director of the FTI; John Burcaw, ATR/FTI; Greg Renne, Recruitment Manager, FTI and Ronda Kliman, Representative of the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. JATF Instructors attending: Stephen Lefaver, Assistant Administrator & Coordinator of Curriculum; David and Jose Arvayo; David Headley; Donald Oliver; David Panico; and Jeremy Von Behren. Chris Studebaker represented NiPDi/FCAI.
